Manufactured by - 4-groove rifling. Weighs 8.8 lbs. Germans placed a device on the muzzle end to accept their bayonet.

This is one of a number of items the Springfield Armory Museum received in 1920 from Captain J.L. Aney. Captain Aney was stationed in Europe with the Ordnance Department and assigned to the "Captured Material Section" in WWI. Aney was ordered to secure items for the Springfield Armory Museum. This weapon is listed on the Receiving Report as Item No. 170 and is described as: "Russian 3-line Nagent magazine rifle, model 1891-1894. Made by the Russians Armories in 1904 and captured by the Germans in 1915. The Germans placed a device on the muzzle end of this gun so as to enable them to equip it with their model '86 bayonet. This type is known as the short type Nagent."
